Mary Cornelia Outten

Cornelia Outten is the co-founder of the Dental Advocacy Group and currently serves as the Chief Member Advocate.

About Cornelia

Cornelia has more than 30 years of healthcare management experience working with providers and organizing them for the purpose of gaining leverage in the marketplace. She believes that lessons learned on the medical side, will translate effectively into the practice of dentistry and her prior experience in healthcare created the impetus for the development of the Dental Advocacy Group.

Prior to developing Dental Advocacy Group with her father, Dr. Joseph F. Outten, she served as Vice President, Managed Care for the Urgent Care Division of American CareSource Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded organization whose focus was in the ancillary care market.

She previously served as Senior Vice President, Provider Networks for Interplan Health Group, a national healthcare management company and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of JBC Healthcare Partners, LLC, a regional PPO retiree medical program based out of San Diego, CA.

In addition, Cornelia spent eight years with HCA Healthcare, including management roles as Vice President, East Networks with CCN Managed Care, Inc., one of the nation’s largest PPO networks and as Vice President, Managed Care Services at HCA Southeast Division in Charleston, South Carolina.

She spent ten years at the Greenville Hospital System, a regional multi-institution healthcare system, as Director, Managed Care and HealthFirst, located in Greenville, South Carolina.

Cornelia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and economics at Salem College, and a Masters in Health Administration, with a concentration in fiscal management, from Tulane University.  Cornelia’s more than 30 years of healthcare management experience has positioned her for her role as the Chief Member Advocate with the Dental Advocacy Group.
